I've Been a Little Distracted

Thought I'd poke my head in and let you guys know I'm still here, just a bit distracted. I finally got something I've been waiting a long time for:

It's an Eastman MD515. I like it pretty well. I think the striped ebony headstock is pretty sweet. Here's a clip of it in action:

Arkansas Traveler on the new mando

I've been working on the Arkansas Traveler rhythm tracks, and should have them up in a day or two.

  1. Beautiful mando, and great tone! I'm hoping to get distracted next week with a new banjo that I've been waiting 8 months for.

  2. Cool. What kind of banjo is it?

  3. It's a custom 12" mahogany open back with a Dobson tone ring and pancake resonator made by Colin Vance. I have a couple of resonator banjos, but decided that it's time to do some frailin as well.

  4. Those are some gorgeous banjos. Are you getting any fancy aesthetic touches on yours?

  5. Colin is inlaying an old octagon barrel squirrel gun that my grandpa gave me 20 years ago (it's going to be brass and shell). The frailing scoop is going to have a squirrel inlayed in it and the peghead is cocobolo. I'll get some pictures posted as soon as I can.

  6. Mando sounds great. They are lots of fun, but they do interfere with guitar pickin'!
