What a Friend We Have in Jesus video

Long time, no post. Work has really been interfering with the important things in life lately, but I am still managing to pick a bit, and even see my family occasionally.

I have finished more rhythm tracks (and have been selfishly using them without sharing); I will soon make them available.

Also, I've been working on an arrangement of St. Anne's Reel. Nothing revolutionary about it, just trying to highlight the prettiness of the song (rather than the bouncy upbeatness that many arrangements underline).

I tried to present variations in 3 different octaves for this arrangement, and found that the lowest octave was the hardest. I ended up tabbing my ideas to get them pinned down. I'll post that tab soon, too.

In the meantime, here's a video I did for Youtube of What a Friend
We Have in Jesus, taken at a stately tempo:

(But you'll find it to be basically the same.)

  1. Nice tone Dave. Any chance you have the tablature for the higher registry work on What a Friend?

  2. I haven't tabbed it yet. I will put it on the list, though. The queue for tabs right now is something like: Keep on the Sunny Side, Foggy Mountain Breakdown, Arkansas Traveler (mandolin), What a Friend We Have in Jesus.

I'm a slow tabber, so if that seems like too long to wait, you should consider contacting Alois Kleewein. He's a very good transcriptionist that does work for hire. His website is http://customtabs.no-ip.org

If you do hire Alois, let me know to remove that from the tab queue, please.
